A BLDC stamping is the precision electrical lamination that forms the stator and rotor core of a brushless DC (BLDC) motor. As BLDC motors spread into EV drives, e-rickshaws, energy-saving fans and pumps, the quality of these laminations has become one of the biggest factors in how efficient the finished motor is.
Why BLDC motors need better laminations
BLDC motors run at high speed and high efficiency, so any energy lost in the core is amplified. Two loss mechanisms matter: eddy-current losses (reduced by thin, clean, electrically-separated laminations) and hysteresis losses (reduced by good electrical-grade steel). A well-made BLDC stamping minimises both.
Slot and tooth design
The number of slots, the tooth width and the stack accuracy set the torque, cogging and smoothness of a brushless motor. That is why BLDC stampings are blanked to finer tolerances than ordinary pressings and stacked so the slots stay perfectly aligned.
Where BLDC stampings are used
- E-rickshaw and EV hub / drive motors
- BLDC ceiling and exhaust fans
- BLDC pumps and blowers
- Battery tools and appliances
Getting a BLDC stamping made
Most BLDC projects need a custom stator/rotor die built to a specific slot design. Shree Balaji develops BLDC dies in-house and supplies both loose laminations and interlocked stacks — see our BLDC stamping or read how core quality drives industrial electric motor efficiency.
