Two of the most common core shapes in the industry are the E-frame and the H-frame. If you are specifying laminations, knowing the difference helps you order the right e frame electrical stamping or H-frame for the job.
The E-frame

How to choose
- Application: compact motor core → E-frame; transformer/generator core → H-frame.
- Size & slot area: match to your winding and output.
- Material & burr control: both should be blanked from electrical-grade CRCA with controlled burr for low losses.
