The electric motor deep groove ball bearing is the workhorse that supports the rotor shaft in almost every electric motor. Understanding how it works helps you specify a motor that runs quietly and lasts.
Why “deep groove”?
The balls sit in deep, closely-conforming raceway grooves. That geometry lets the bearing carry radial load, thrust in both directions and combined loads — all at high rotational speed and with very low friction. Low friction means less heat, and less heat means a longer-lived motor.
Sealing options
- Open — for re-lubricated or oil-bath designs.
- ZZ (metal shield) — retains grease, keeps dust out, low drag; ideal for sealed motor end shields.
- 2RS (rubber seal) — best protection in dusty or damp conditions.
Getting long life from the bearing
Correct shaft and housing fit, clean mounting and matched grease all matter. So does buying genuine bearings with consistent radial clearance — cheap, out-of-spec bearings are a common cause of motor noise and early failure.
Popular sizes for small motors include the 6201ZZ and the 6202 2RS; see our full deep groove ball bearing listing. Shree Balaji supplies bearings alongside the electrical stampings we manufacture, so you can source a complete industrial electric motor kit from one place. Call +91 98991 00494.
